Workout Guidance
Whenever we do machine intervals, it’s important to know how to get the erg up to speed as quickly as possible. On the rower, this looks like doing a full pull, then a series of 4-5 smaller pulls, gradually increasing in length. On the ski erg, we can imitate the same process, using small pulls to start and increasing the length of the pull as the flywheel begins to move. On the bike erg, standing up and leaning forward allows us to express a ton of power, and although this is very fatiguing and not sustainable for an entire workout, it’s a great way to get the machine up to workout pace.
