Workout Guidance
One difficult aspect of a larger set of back squats is keeping our breathing under control. When we have a heavy weight on our shoulders, the last thing we want to do is breathe during the rep. We should always be striving to exhale and inhale between reps. Depending on the weight, it may be feasible to do our first 2-4 reps on one breath, then start breathing before every squat on subsequent reps. As we get tired, we can take 2-3 breaths between reps to make sure we’re getting enough oxygen for reps 8, 9 and 10.
