Workout Guidance
Today is ‘a grindy workout that’s all about the push-ups and sit-ups. The highest level of CrossFit deals with the concept of virtuosity; doing the common uncommonly well. While we’ve all done many push-ups and sit-ups in our lives, can we really say we do them perfectly? The devil is in the details on both these movements. On push-ups, do we always touch only the center of our chest to the ground, or do our belly button and thighs also touch when we get tired? On our sit-ups, are we keeping our butt cheeks glued to the ground through the entire movement, or are we lifting or hips up as we lean down and then dropping them as we sit up? Remember, we don’t get better at movement through mindless repetition; we get better by consistently evaluating our own performance and making the appropriate changes where necessary. Virtuosity is there for us, but we have to reach for it every day.
