Who’s in for Friday Night Lights?!?! Last week we had almost 30 athletes! Let’s do this thang!
Congratulations to Nicky Shargel our January Member of the Month! Let’s hear from Nicky!
1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I just celebrated my 4th CrossFit birthday! Started when my youngest child was about 3 months old and at a time when I was as round as a medicine ball. Had never been athletic before but there was a box conveniently a mile from my house so I dropped in to see what all the hype was about!
2. What class do you normally take?
I started off at the 7:15AM (love you guys) but lately have been more of a 5:30PM(awesome crew too). Regardless of the time, the energy and positivity is always amazing!!!. Weekends I try to go to the 7 on Sat and Open Gym on Sunday.
3. What is your favorite movement?
Pull ups! I’m absolutely amazed that I can actually do them! When I first started, hanging from the rig was hard enough. Now, I can cycle thru a bunch in a row. The mental and physical progress I feel is pretty much what I call, “healthy crack.”
4. Do you have a favorite workout?
Annie has my heart….and my legs…and my abs too;)
5. If there was a “Nicky” WOD what it be?
Buy in row 500 meters, some sort of chipper with double unders, sit ups, wall balls, box jumps, pull ups, cash out Row 500 meters. (Apologies to all if Max ever makes us do “Nicky.”)
6. What is your all time favorite movie?
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind
7. You have to eat one meal for the rest of your life. What would it be?
Sushi or the Greek yogurt from Sophia’s pantry in Belmont. Trust me…so good.
8. Is smiling really your favorite?
Ha! Sure is…along with hugs + high fives! What’s the alternative???
9. Word on the street is you hoard shaker bottles. How many do you have?
Don’t believe everything you hear. I now have two. I typically can’t be trusted to keep track of shaker bottles or socks. That being said I am so grateful that Alex has gifted me two. I keep one at my office and the other in my gym bag. Hopefully I have kicked my solo cup habit for good. But, honestly, I doubt it;)
10. If you could open any blind box what would be inside?
Kettle bells, jump ropes, and a few barbells… jk
Poppy Troll because she is the cheeriest little character of all time. And I love her message, “There is always a bright side.” Pre trolls I would have easily said Rainbow Dash. Because A. Rainbow is my favorite color B. I just love her cutie mark.
11. Cats or dogs? Why?
Other people’s dogs – all day everyday. At this point in life I can hardly keep track of a shaker bottle – no additional responsibilities for me.
12. You’re leaving on a trip and can only pack 6 things in your backpack. What are they?
Kindle, headphones, running sneakers, pink skort, snacks, + glasses (I seriously can’t see anything without them)!
13. Any last comments for the TILT community?
Honestly, for lack of better words – Thank You! I walked in super sad to be leaving my old crossfit. Tilt has been the best silver lining of all time. I am beyond grateful to everyone for being so kind and welcoming. I couldn’t ask for a more inspiring crew of people to workout with everyday. Max, Sean + James for being the most thoughtful, knowledgeable, encouraging coaches ever. I feel absolutely blessed to have found you all. Thank you!!
