WOOHOO!!! Mike Noce is your November Member of the Month!

Let’s hear from the big fella!

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
6 months, I started CrossFit at TILT at the end of May 2016.
2. What were you doing before you started CrossFit?
I was all about the Gold’s Gym special…chest, back and bi’s.  Before starting CrossFit, I would do cardio in the morning from 5:30am – 6:30am then go back to the gym after work to lift for another two hours.  It wasn’t the most efficient process and I would usually get pretty burnt out, it’s just not a sustainable model.
3. What class do you go to?
5:15am, the best way to start your day!
4. Who do you like to throw down with?
I honestly like throwing down with everyone, especially all the 5:15am‘ers.
5. You’re known at TILT as The Restaurant Guru. Where is your #1 favorite spot for dinner in the Waltham area?
This is potentially the hardest question, there are just too many options, but I have a couple suggestions since I can’t name just one.  To get in touch with the Italian side, I highly recommend Fulciniti’s Marketplace on Hammond Street in Waltham, go off menu and get the half chicken parm, half eggplant parm sandwich, it’s devine.  Another great sandwich spot is Wagon Wheel Nursery and Farm Stand on Waltham Street in Lexington; the Honey Wagon sandwich is legit, but the Cowboy is what dreams are made of.  A great dinner spot is Paisanos Restaurant and Bar in Waltham on High Street, it has the best Mexican food I have ever had and is very reasonably priced.  The place looks a little dumpy from the the outside and the name would indicate that it’s Italian food, but trust me, it’s really good.  Finally, my go-to, number 1, if I only had one meal, would be Il Capriccio on Main Street in Waltham.  It’s gourmet Italian with French accents to add some flair, everything on the menu tastes amazing and I have never had a bad meal there.
6. If there was a “Noce” pizza what would be on it? What type of crust? Sauce? etc…
Another tough question, but this what I came up with…Half of the pizza plain cheese, the other half with sausage and garlic topping.  This is really the best of both worlds, you get the deliciousness of the toppings, but sometimes you just want to go back and cleanse the palette with the plain cheese.
7. You’ve got a TV that plays one movie on a continuous loop. What movie is on?
The Natural.  I’ve probably seen it 20 times and I still get goosebumps whenever I see the ending.
8. If there was a “Noce” workout what would it consist of?
“Noce”
1000m Row
5 rounds, Power Cleans, Wall Balls, Pull-ups, Double Unders
1000m Row
9. When you’re not at TILT working on your fitness what does your day look like?
After the morning gym sesh I head into Cambridge for work, the commute is less than desirable, but since the gym is already out of the way for the day it makes it a little more bearable.  The company I work for is a startup and we measure and analyze team performance within organizations.  There’s obviously a lot more to it than that, but if you think it sounds interesting I’d love to talk to people about it and also hear about their experiences with starting a company.  Outside of work, I volunteer at an organization that works with at-risk youth and also coach the American Legion baseball team in Sudbury.
10. Secret Snowflake is approaching fast. Give the TILT members 3 likes and 3 dislikes to help when picking the ultimate gift for the man, the myth, the Noce.
3 Likes: coffee, cool socks, random desk toys
3 Dislikes: candy, ties, “This Is Us” season 1 DVD’s
11. Any last words on being Member of the Month?
A big thank you to Max, Tully, and Brian for all the coaching and for making working out fun again.  Thank you to LJ for convincing me to sign up, it took some time, but I’m glad I did.  Thanks to Dave for being my go-to workout partner and for yelling words that I think translate into “keep moving” (it generally sounds a little angrier).  Shout-outs to Marissa and T-Fuel, it’s so much fun seeing you and working out together.  And finally, a big thanks to everyone at the gym, it’s been nice meeting a lot of you and I look forward to meeting more.  Happy Holidays!
